Information and registration Eduki Competition 2023/2024

Once you have selected your category, register on our website using the "Register" button at the top of the page (or the "Register" button in the right-hand column of this page (below if you are on a mobile phone)).

When you click on the button, a pop-up window will open. If you already have a personal account on our site, enter your login details and click on "Sign in". If you do not have a personal account yet, click on "Register" and fill in the required information. NB: Creating a personal account does not yet register you for the competition, but it is an essential step!

Once you have created your personal account (or logged in), you will be redirected to the competition registration form. Fill in the required information, including a contact person (usually yourself as a teacher). The Eduki team will be in contact with this person.

Registrations are open to students enrolled in Swiss schools from primary (aged around 4-11), secondary I (aged around 12-15) and secondary II level (aged around 16-19). Every teacher can make several entries (e.g. several projects in the three different categories), and it is possible to enter pupils individually, in groups, by class or by institution.

Registrations open on 4 September 2023 and close on 31 December 2023.

Once your registration has been validated, you will be redirected to your personal space where you can modify your information, save documents by adding them to your favourites and view your entry(s) for the competition(s).

You can log in to your personal space at any time by clicking on the icon in the sidebar on the right of your screen or on the dedicated icon at the top right of the site (next to the search field).

Once you have registered, it's time to prepare your project. First of all, we advise you to read the following documents carefully:

-The general rules will give you a better understanding of the jury's expectations (point 11: evaluation criteria and weighting).
- Also, don't overlook our page dedicated to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

One of the main aims of the competition is to introduce young people to international organisations (IOs) and other international cooperation actors in Switzerland. So book an activity with Eduki for your students:

- A visit to an IO or a non-governmental organisation (NGO)
- A special guided tour of International Geneva
- An interactive workshop on the SDGs
- An SDG’s exhibition to order for your school

Remember, it is important to document the development and creation phase of the project (with photos, videos or text), as the jury will also be judging the process that led to the final result.

- Deadline for submitting the projects: 29 February 2024 
- Awards Ceremony in Geneva: 15 May 2024

The awards ceremony is an unforgettable experience for the participants.
Under the high patronage of the Director-General of the United Nations Office Geneva, the ceremony will be held on Wednesday, 15th May 2024 in the unique setting of the Palais des Nations in Geneva. 
Several personalities from International Geneva and the partners of the Competition will be present to see the works created by the students and their proposals. 

The prizes: 

The first and second place winners at each level and in each category will receive prizes donated by our generous sponsors. These are usually gift vouchers or vouchers for activities to be done with the class. 
An exhibition featuring a selection of the winning projects will be on display at the United Nations for several days in May 2024. This will be an opportunity to pass on the message from the young people to the thousands of international civil servants and visitors of the Palais des Nations.

The Françoise Demole Award will reward the best projects in the "Concrete Action" category submitted by Secondary II students (aged between 15 and 19). 

Providing financial support of up to CHF 10,000, the Françoise Demole Award enables the best project ideas to go from the drawing board to reality! 

The Award is aimed at students in secondary II education who are registered in the concrete action category. In addition to the instructions specifically to this category, projects submitted for the Award must include a link with one or more actors involved in international cooperation and with a presence in Switzerland (e.g. international or non-governmental organisations). To submit your project to the Françoise Demole Award, you must tick the box provided for this purpose in the technical form (form to be completed when you submit your project; registration to the Competition is required beforehand). 

Evaluation criteria (13 points in total): 
- Relevance to the theme (3pts) 
- Approach followed and personal engagement (6 pts) 
- Originality (2 pts) 
- Feasibility (3 pts)
- Expected impact (2 pts) 
- Link with a stakeholder of international cooperation in Switzerland (2pts)

The Committee is independent of the Competition's jury and is not bound by the Competition's decisions. These criteria and their weighting by the Committee are detailed in the rules of the Award.
